Meet the Face Behind Print Ideas

Keith Yount, www.printideas.net

I’m Keith Yount, proud owner of Print Ideas.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I first opened the doors of Print Ideas in 2002. However, I have been working in the trade since 1977. We are a mid-sized shop bigger than the quick printers but smaller than the big guys and we focus on quality and service.

All of our personnel have been in the printing business the majority of their lives. We're all “old school”, keeping up with technology as best as we can. It's all about putting ink on paper and having the insight and experience to know what works.

My experience working in a small family business for over twenty years forced me to learn every aspect of the trade. First starting on a big Xerox copier, then I moved into the offset arena cutting and folding, after that I actually began running offset on a single color Heidelberg GTO. Over the years I became a “floater”, covering any position that needed help, darkroom, stripping, plating, bindery, and eventually moved into management.

Being a small business, I wear many hats. My responsibilities include all of the above. I am also responsible for opening the doors in the morning, answering the phone, estimating, engineering, ordering supplies, writing the job ticket, and even though I do have a small but mighty crew of four, many times you will find me picking up stock, cutting, printing, folding, and delivering it.

I attribute my success to being honest to the point of my own detriment as well as years of learning from the old guys, knowing what I'm doing, and working hard to achieve what I want to. I also owe my success to Jack Squire. He has had the most impact on my leadership style.

I was a hellion when I was younger, I ran with a rough crowd, primarily bikers and grew up outside of Battleground, Indiana. I was a pretty troubled young man until Jesus found me on Easter 1980. Since then my life has changed forever. While I am a Christian first and foremost, I have also studied Buddhism, Hinduism, and I think there is a lot to learn from Metaphysics. These principles define my personal values.

As an individual, I greatly admire and respect anyone that has a genuine skill no matter what the trade is.

Being a musician I enjoy playing music when I’m not working. I also enjoy gardening, canning and freezing all the stuff I grow. Cooking is also my pastime.

For all that I receive from the community, I choose to give back by contributing to just about every call I get, firefighters, veterans of war, cancer, multiple sclerosis, police, etc.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.

If you or someone you know could benefit from my expertise in printing, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit my website at www.printideas.net.

Sincerely,
Keith
